At some point in the future, Marvel will thaw out the Winter Soldier once more. For now, however, Captain America: Civil War's Bucky Barnes is back in a world where words like longing, rusted, homecoming, and freight car have no meaning.

The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) spent Civil War being impersonated, hounded, and quite literally disarmed. When the dust finally settled, he found himself safe and sound in the refuge of his former foe - Black Panther's (Chadwick Boseman) mist-shrouded Wakanda. Barnes might be out of harm's way, but, as long as his head's full of Hydra's most advanced brainwashing, the world is not. It's for this reason that Cap's (Chris Evans) oldest pal used the mid-credits scene to put his life on hold.

Tucked into the blockbuster's lengthy acknowledgments, the brief clip highlighted the futures of both T'Challa and Bucky. World-renowned for their technology and isolationism, Wakanda provides the perfect hideout for the super solider while our heroes find a way to deprogram 70 years worth of damage.

"That was always sort of the idea for the end of the movie, and as the movie was being developed, it felt like it would be additionally cool to have that happen in Wakanda - a super advanced place. They've got something that he could go in," Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige told Cinema Blend. "And also, it speaks to Panther's arc. The person that he was out to kill early in the movie, he's now nobly helping. And then, of course, that led organically to a cool moment, where Cap can go, 'Thanks for doing this, but they're going to come get you.'"

Hmm...sounds like the MCU has found its tie-in for Black Panther's 2018 solo outing.
