On Wednesday, news surfaced that Walked Dead had signed three of its actors to series regulars following its season three finale and many Melissa McBride fans were upset that the actress was not among the trio announced, according to Yahoo!

McBride has played Carol since season one of the show and supporters of the actress took to TVLine's comments section to demand that AMC make her a regular along with the newest additions: Chad L. Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green and Emily Kinney.

However, McBride took to Twitter Wednesday and set the record straight by confirming that she already is a regular on the show. Responding to the "awesome outpouring" of support, she tweeted, "I currently am a series regular."

"It's legalese, and what it means for my castmates now is CONGRATULATIONS!!" she added.

The contorversy began perhaps due to the fact that McBride's name, unlike a majority of the show's regulars, is not included in the main title sequence. Instead she is listed in the secondary credits under "Also Starring," which is most of the time reserved for guest stars.

The news report noted that sources said the Walking Dead contracts gives producers and the AMC network the right to include series regulars in either section. Scott Wilson is also listed in the secondary credits and is also a series regular.

Series creator Robert Kirkman only responded to questions about the setup by telling TVLine the following: "There are a lot of executive producers on the show and that's not my forte. I don't even know what the series regular term actually really means when it gets down to it, I'm sorry to admit."

In an interview with TVLine on Monday, Kirkman also said that the show's fourth season, beginning in October, will feature "big differences" from season three, including "new locations and new places to discover and explore."
