Madonna’s tribute to Prince at the Billboard Music Awards Sunday got mixed reviews from her fellow recording artists and fans. But one of Prince’s ex-girlfriends has revealed what the late singer really thought of Madonna.

Word spread that Madonna nabbed the Prince tribute due to her close friendship with him as well as projects they worked on together in the past. But Anna Fantastic told TMZ Monday that she wasn’t impressed with Madonna’s big moment.

“I don’t wanna sound like Simon Cowell… But she’s had really good iconic performances. But last night was not one of them.”

Anna, who said she was in the studio when Madonna and Prince recorded their hit "This Is Not A Love Song", added that Madonna wanted to take their duet further and do a music video together. But Prince shut it down.

“I think he liked the song but he didn’t want to do a video. I even said, ‘You know you and Madonna in a video would be really cool.’ And he said, ‘Me and Madonna in a video… No thanks.’”

Apparently Madonna’s split with her then estranged husband Sean played a part as Madonna told Prince back then she was going through a lot in her personal life. But Prince wasn’t impressed. And it doesn’t look like things changed over time.

“Last year she wanted to do a tour with him and he also said… I think he used something like, ‘It’s too much for the world to handle right now.’ But you know, he had a great sense of humor.”
