Danica Patrick is all about taking care of oneself as she serves for Life Insurance Awareness Month.

On Monday, KCTV 5 announced that the NASCAR driver is the spokesperson for this cause in the month of September. She explained in the campaign for nonprofit organization Life Happens why it's important to have life insurance, which is for the sake of not just the person who has it, but for loved ones as well.

"Driving racecars is risky. Not having life insurance is riskier," Patrick said. "It means leaving your loved ones to suffer financially if something happens to you."

Considering that Patrick puts herself in dangerous situations with her job, she knows that life insurance is the best thing to have for anyone out there who has family to look after.

"I may have a risky job that not many people feel that they can relate to- after all, I race a car around a track with concrete walls at 200 mph," she said. "But the greatest risk of all is not having life insurance to take care of your loved ones should something happen to you. It is a risk that no one should take."

CEO of Life Happens Marvin H. Feldman opened up on how great it is to have Patrick be on board with this campaign and the positive benefits that will hopefully come along with it.

"Danica's story drives home an important reason to have life insurance: witnessing family and friends suffer because their loved ones did not have the necessary coverage," Feldman said. "We're thrilled to have her on board to be able to share her experience as the voice of our campaign and hope that together we can encourage more people to get life insurance to protect their families and loved ones."
