Lori Petty was one of the standout actresses in season 4 of Netflix's Orange Is the New Black, but her fate on the show is uncertain.

Petty's character Lolly was one of the bigger ones on Orange Is the New Black this season, as she was involved with Alex (Laura Prepon) and the hitman sent to kill her. After killing the hitman together, she ultimately wound up taking the fall for it and was sent to the psychiatric ward.

While it's not clear if Lolly will return to the series next season, Petty thinks we will see her again at some point.

"I certainly hope so. I do think we will. I can't say for sure, but I absolutely think we will," she told The Hollywood Reporter recently, of seeing Lolly again. "They are just now filming episode one [of season five] and you know how we ended season four. They have a lot to deal with right now! I'm just waiting on the phone call to get back on the plane. I'm sure it will come, but we have 13 episodes and they've got a lot to take care of, so we'll see."

We have at least seen characters who were transferred the maximum security come back, like Nicky (Natasha Lyonne) and Sophia (Laverne Cox), so there may still be hope for Lolly.

Petty also spoke about playing a character with mental illness and how Lolly's personality shined through even in spite of it.

"We treated it so seriously," Petty said. "Even though Lolly is funny and lovable - and half of a murderer [laughs] - she's very relatable and people see her as a friend. She even says, 'I'm the good friend.' Because she is. I think it grows compassion and empathy and the more people can see it, the more they can get a handle on it."

Orange Is the New Black season 5 is expected to drop next summer on Netflix. The first four seasons are available to stream now.
