Mariah Carey Husband 2016: Singer Opens Up About Nick Cannon Divorce [VIDEO]

While Nick Cannon has been pretty vocal about making sure the media knows his split with Mariah Carey is an amicable one, Carey has been a little less chatty. But now, the singer has dished on her split with Cannon amid her engagement to billionaire James Packer.

“I never thought I would have babies with someone and then get divorced,” Carey said in the newest issue of Complex magazine. “Like ‘Oh, great job. Repeat your past.’”

Still, she had nothing negative to say about Cannon, but rather said their split was just “life.”

“But life happens. And it was supposed to happen. It’s fine. For them, I wish it hadn’t happened that way. For me, it was… [singing Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams ‘Too Much, Too Little, Too Late’]” Guess it’s over. Call it a day.”

The two shocked fans when they announced their marriage back in 2008. They revealed their separation in late 2014. Rumors have been spreading that Cannon is the reason the divorce is not final yet as Carey is said to be waiting for it be official so she can tie the knot with Packer. As for her engagement to him, Carey opened up about how their relationship works for both of them.

“I don’t expect him to be at every little thing that I do, and vice versa. He’s got a lot of stuff on his plate and so do I. Actually, I think if he didn’t like my music, then how would I be able to handle him being around when all I’m doing is creating new stuff, doing whatever? It’s cool.”
