It’s no secret Keshia Knight Pulliam’s acting catalogue stretches out for more than 30 years after she starred as Rudy Huxtable in the iconic television series The Cosby Show.

But word is, her independence as an adult turned off her now estranged husband Ed Hartwell.

“The couple is just not able to agree or see eye-to-eye on anything,” an insider told People recently. “Hartwell is very old-fashioned in marital beliefs and couples should make decisions together, and it seems Keshia is more interested in remaining a successful independent business woman than baking cookies and being a submissive wife.”

Hartwell shocked fans when he filed for divorce on July 25, just days after Pulliam announced her pregnancy. The two got married in a secret ceremony at the beginning of the year. They dated for four months.

The source went on to say that Pulliam’s “child star” status definitely played a factor in the split.

“This is probably just a case of a child star used to going through life baking her cake, having her cake and eating her cake too.”

As for the unborn child, Hartwell has also reportedly expressed concern of whether he is actually the father. A separate insider said that the two were having marriage woes long before they split.

“It’s just that he had told her he wanted to wait before having a baby and things got really bad between them and then she pops up pregnant. He even told her he didn’t want to release the bump picture so soon, but she did it anyway.”

Meanwhile, Pulliam is leaning on her “village” to get through this time.
