It’s been awhile since we heard new music from Bow Wow (about eight years), but now he has announced that after his upcoming album, he is putting down the mic for good. And Twitter had mixed reactions about it.

Bow Wow, whose real name is Shad Moss, got his first hit Bounce With Me, when he was just 13. But he began rapping at the tender of age six under the direction of West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg. He then signed to So So Def under Jermaine Dupri where he spent much of his successful career.

He took to Twitter to reveal that Snoop is going to be the executive producer of his final album, which he revealed is titled NYLTH. When asked what he meant by “final,” he confirmed that he is retiring from the rap game.

Bow Wow will turn 30 on March 9.

Bow Wow has stated in the past that he wants to focus on his acting career. His first lead role was in Like Mike and he has since starred in movies like Lottery Ticket and Madea’s Big Happy Family. He also made it to the small screen for two seasons of CSI: Cyber on CBS.

As for reactions, he got a mixture of positive and negative.

One fan wrote, “Bow Wow really peaked at 9 years old,” while another added, “Bow Wow is like that twitter chic that claims she gets so much hate, but in real life and fake life, nobody knows her to hate her.”

Others compared him to Soulja Boy.
