Los Angeles Lakers player Steve Nash is battling his ex-wife Alejandra Amarilla over child support payments, saying he is concerned about her spoiling his kids.

The South-African born point guard is locked in a legal dispute in Arizona with his ex-wife, who lives in the same state where their divorce judge ruled that she was not entitled to child support.

The mother of Nash's three children wants is appealing the judge's decision, according to TMZ. She claimed that Nash makes a million dollars more than she does each month and therefore she feels the disparity is unfair to her and her children, to whom she has custody.

Nash said he is already paying a lot, according to the website. The 39-year-old funds 90 percent of medical, school and extracurricular activities for his children, and 82 percent of the nanny's $2,000 salary. Nash said he is worried that if he gives over more money his ex-wife will spoil their children with extravagant luxuries, the news report noted.

He announced that he and Amarilla were splitting up in November of 2010, just one day after she gave birth to their third child. He filed for divorce a month later from his wife of more than five years and requesting that the court honor a premarital agreement stating that he did not have to provide permanent spousal support, according to The Huffington Post.
