With the Princess Kaguya arc officially over, there is nothing else for Naruto Shippuden to cover but the manga's dramatic finale. By the end of Episode 474, it was clear to fans that the anime would, after all these years, finally explore the final chapters of the manga.

The Final Fight of Naruto and Sasuke

Naruto Shippuden Episode 475, titled The Final Valley, is a direct reference to the place where Naruto and Sasuke are set to battle each other one final time. The battle between the two young ninjas could be considered the defining battle of the Naruto franchise, as the stories of the two protagonists come full circle with them once more trying to destroy each other.

Needless to say, the final battle between Naruto and Sasuke will be glorious to watch. In fact, if the new Naruto Shippuden opening theme is any indication, Studio Pierrot seems set on doing justice to the manga's final chapters.

Final Battle To Be Drawn Out? Fillers Within Episodes

Considering that the Naruto franchise has been Studio Pierrot's biggest cash cow for years, it would not be surprising at all if the production company decides to milk Naruto and Sasuke's final battle for all its worth. This was seen in Obito's death sequence during the battle against Princess Kaguya. While his death in the manga was definitive and almost quick, the anime extended his demise to multiple episodes, using flashback after flashback to consume the runtime of the episode.

Thus, with the final battle looming, and with the massive history there is between Naruto and Sasuke, it is almost certain that Studio Pierrot could extend the fight for a very long time. It is common in anime to at least have 13 or so more episodes when a new opening sequence is introduced. With this in mind, viewers should not be surprised if the battle between the two young ninjas would last about three months or so.

Naruto Shippuden Episode 475 To Be Mostly Filler?

Thus, the upcoming episode, which features Sasuke's final change of heart and the rekindling of his desire to destroy Naruto, will most probably feature a lot of background footage about the two ninjas. In fact, it would not be surprising at all if The Final Valley once more becomes a trip down memory lane.

Once the battle does start, however, viewers might as well get ready for the long haul. Then again, this is the finale of Naruto Shippuden, after all. What's a few more episodes of fillers and flashbacks compared to years of waiting?
