Reese Witherspoon, who was arrested in Atlanta on April 19, along with her husband, Jim Toth, has spoken publicly for the first time about the incident.

The Academy Award-winning star appeared on Good Morning America on Thursday and said she spoke to the arresting officer since the incident and told him that she made an "unacceptable mistake."

"It was just one of those nights, we went out to dinner and had one too many glasses of wine," the Legally Blonde actress told George Stephanopolous. "We thought we were OK to drive but we definitely were not," she admitted.

Witherspoon apologized repeatedly in their chat saying, "We are just so sorry this happened. We know better than that. It's something that will absolutely never happen again."

When the GMA co-anchor asked her if she learned anything from the incident, Witherspoon joked, "When a police officer tells you to stay in the car, you stay in the car. I think I've played a lawyer so many times in movies I think I am a lawyer sometimes. Clearly I am not!"

The Hollywood power couple was pulled over in Atlanta because Toth was driving the couple's rented Ford Fusion in the wrong lane, according to reports. He was arrested for DUI and Reese was arrested for disorderly conduct - she became irate when her husband was being questioned. The actress told the officer who pulled them over, "You're about to find out who I am ... You are going to be on national news," according to the police report.

Witherspoon released a statement two days later where she issued a public apology. She admitted she "clearly had one drink too many" and added, "I deeply embarrassed about the things I said."

"It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse," she said inher statement. "I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behavior."

Enstars reported that Atlanta's FOX5 News obtained the video of the Walk The Line star in handcuffs. The video, which was also obtained by TMZ, shows the mother-of-three being led out of a police car. Reese is dressed in sneakers and the handcuffs placed behind her are eventually taken off as she is led into the police station.
