Immunity is worth its wait in gold, something the latest crop of celebs learned during week three of Dancing with the Stars.

The ABC series followed up its first season 23 elimination with "Face-Off Night," the only episode of the year during which competitors can earn the right to breath easy during results night. After pairing off into six sets, each group was tasked with performing the same style of dance, albeit to different songs. The couple with the highest score earned immunity for the week.

For the cream of the crop, the week three twist insulated them from voters, insuring they were judged on talent alone. The lucky winners included Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko (jive), Vanilla Ice and Witney Carson (paso doble), James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess (cha-cha-cha), Calvin Johnson, Jr. and Lindsay Arnold (Viennese waltz), Maureen McCormick and Artem Chigvintsev (salsa), and Laurie Hernandez and Valentine Chmerkovskiy (tango).

The other six competitors, however, had to sweat it out through Tuesday's unbearably long episode. When it came down to it, voters gave former presidential hopeful Rick Perry the ax. Partnered with Emma Slater, the Texan's scores should have had him packing his bags last week, but, somehow, he managed to scrape through. The politician's luck didn't hold, however, and his 23-point paso doble proved his downfall.
