Brad Pitt agreed to a voluntary drug test after an investigation on his alleged child abuse practices commenced.

Pitt, 52, surrenders himself for a voluntary drug test in cooperation with the ongoing investigation of child abuse allegations against him, USA Today reported. The investigation is being led by a Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

According to the report, the drug test may have been taken following the alleged plane incident on Sept. 14. On the trip home from France via a private plane, the "Fight Club" actor was said to have verbally and physically abused Maddox, his oldest son, Huffington Post wrote. This, apparently, prompted Angelina Jolie to file for divorce. Jolie's documents cited that they separated on Sept. 15, a day after the supposed incident.

Based on the California Law, DCFS should always investigate all complaints lodged to them. In this instance, the department complied and so did Pitt.

A source close to the actor said, "He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children." The same source also stated that it is unfortunate that Pitt is being painted in the "worst possible light."

The said verbal and physical abuse happened midair, giving the FBI the jurisdiction to prosecute and investigate. However, the Bureau has yet to confirm their involvement.

Jolie filed for divorce on Sept. 19 and cited irreconcilable differences. She is requesting for full physical custody of Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox, their six children. The divorce and this request were made for the health of the family, lawyer Robert Offer said on behalf of the "Tom Raider" star.

Pitt also released an official statement saying that he is distraught with the decision but the wellbeing of his kids is what matters most. He pleaded for the press to give the children the privacy they need, the same sentiments his estranged wife requested from the press, as well.
