Singer Taylor Swift has a new man in her life: high school football star Kevin McGuire, who will be accompanying her to the Academy of Country Music Awards thanks to an eager Facebook post.

McGuire's sister Victoria set up the "Taylor Swift Take Kevin McGuire to Prom!" Facebook page as a way to help support her brother while he underwent treatment for a relapse of the leukemia he battled five years ago.

"All throughout Kevin's treatment he kept his character intact, remained playing basketball, and even started varsity football as a freshman," she wrote on Facebook. "Kevin is known throughout the community as the High school's 'real life SUPER MAN!' "

Victoria went on to call her brother "the kindest, most noble 18 year old a person could even fathom meeting," and wrote, "Nothing, and I mean NOTHING brightens Kevin's day more than Taylor Swift. Kevin DESERVES more than anyone a special event in his life."

Swift said she couldn't oblige, but came up with a better idea:

"Kevin, I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make it to your prom," she wrote via her official Facebook page. "But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up ... Would you be my date?"

After hearing the good news, McGuire spoke with USA Today about his upcoming dream date. "Obviously I said yes," he told the paper, adding that the awards show "is a lot better than the senior prom."

The 47th annual ACM Awards will take place April 1 in Las Vegas. Swift is nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Video of the Year.
