Britney Spears is not dead, contrary to a new internet hoax that popped up this week.

The Sony Music Global and Bob Dylan Twitter accounts were hacked Monday morning, both stating that Spears had died. "Britney Spears is dead by accident! We will tell you more soon," a tweet from Sony Music Global stated, while the Dylan account tweeted "Rest in peace, Britney Spears."

Shortly after the tweets were spread, Spears' manager, Adam Leber, spoke with CNN about this whole situation being some sort of hoax.

"I assume their account has been hacked," he said. "I haven't spoken to anyone... as of yet but I am certain their account was hacked. Britney is fine and well. There have been a few Internet clowns over the years who have made similar claims about her death, but never from the official Sony Music Twitter account."

Spears combatted the rumors as well by posting a series of photos on Twitter:

This mess comes after a year full of shocking celebrity deaths, including David Bowie, Prince, Alan Thicke, Christina Grimmie, and most recently, George Michael. Many were also worried when it was announced that Carrie Fisher had a heart attack last week, but she is now in stable condition.

UPDATE: Carrie Fisher was prounounced dead at 8:55 a.m. ET Tuesday morning.

And speaking of Michael, Spears posted a new photo on Instagram last night expressing her sadness over the loss of a music icon. The singer, responsible for the band Wham!, was 53 when he died of heart failure on Christmas Day.
