Since LeBron James returned to Cleveland Cavaliers, they became the dominant force in the East. In the past 2 seasons, they have a combined 110-54 win-loss record. They also reached two consecutive NBA Finals and won their first ever NBA championship last season.

This season, the Cavaliers is clearly emerging as the top team in the Eastern Conference. After playing 30 games this season, they tallied a 23-7 win-loss record. They are first in the East and third in the entire league behind Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs.

The Big Three of the Cavs looks like a more dangerous mix this season as they are starting to get comfortable playing alongside with each other. LeBron James is playing in an MVP-level once again as he averages 25.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 8.6 assists. Kyrie Irving is averaging 23.6 points and 5.8 assists while Kevin Love is playing his best season with the Cavs as he is recording 21.7 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

The Cavaliers also won a game against its greatest rival Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day. Thanks to Irving's jumper with 3.4 seconds left in the game to seal the victory. But according to ESPN, the NBA admitted that it missed two calls that might help the Warriors win that game.

The game was played in the Cavs home floor. But they only won by one point. And that night, two-time MVP struggled with his shots.

Since the Cavs and the Warriors are expected to meet in the NBA Finals this season for the third consecutive time, the Cavs is said to be looking to upgrade their roster. Despite the loss, the Warriors looks like a more talented team right now as they currently holds the best record in the entire league.

And according to Fox Sports, the Cavs could possibly acquire veteran defender Tony Allen from the Memphis Grizzlies. J.R. Smith will be out for about 3 months which might affect the Cavs regular season run. If they could acquire Allen from the Grizzlies, they could sustain their status as East best team. Aside from that, the Grizzlies are said to be open to trade Tony Allen, as further discussed by Fox Sports.

Tony Allen is averaging 10.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals for the Grizzlies this season. He is known for his defense throughout his career. If he will play for the Cavs, he could be an added boost to the Cavs defense.

Since the Warriors are full of talented scorers, adding Allen to the Cavs lineup might help a lot in defending the Warriors' sharp shooters. With James and Allen as the Cavs main defenders, Cleveland will be a more dangerous team.
