The Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge handsets has been apparently been halted and replaced with a new beta.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge were rumored to start getting Android 7.0 Nougat on Jan. 17, but last week brought unpredicted news to some users.

Just days after HTC has halted the Nougat update roll-out for its HTC 10 smartphone, now it looks like Samsung is also following suit. Reports from China are suggesting that the Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge has also been halted to due to bugs.

According to TechTimes, Samsung has ended the beta testing and started pushing the final, official release of Android 7.0 Nougat to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge last week. The handsets which were only the part of beta program got the update at that point that has led to speculation that non-beta Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge units would get the update on Jan. 17, as previously rumored.

Last week, Samsung began rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for its Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets. This was after the update had undergone a beta testing. However, it looks that over in China, the update's rollout has been halted according to the reports.

It seems Samsung pulled the update in the country and replaced with a new beta instead. This says that the update was not ready for the final release and the company has decided to reopen the beta to iron out some more kinks, reports GSM Arena.

The new beta release, which released after halting nougat update, reportedly carries build number G9350ZCU2ZQA4 and it's currently rolling out to replace the previous update. The new beta is rolling out to the Galaxy S7 edge in China and weighs in at 213.30 MB, which is pretty close to the official Nougat update that reached the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge last week.
