Days of Our Lives delivered on a jam packed May sweeps that saw Will Horton being shot and fighting for his life just as Gabi gave birth to his daughter.

For the past few months, one of the central storylines of the show has been about Gabi Hernadez and Will battling over custody of their unborn child. She married Nick Fallon who did not want openly gay Will raising the child and would insult him at every opportunity. The climax of the story came this week when Jensen kidnapped Nick and a pregnant Gabi.

Will and his boyfriend Sonny tracked down the kidnapped couple to Smith Island. Sonny helped Gabi escape but Will stayed behind to help Nick. It was then that Sami's son learned that Nick had been raped in prison and that was the reason behind his homophobia. Will tried to save Nick, but ended up with a bullet.

The scenes impressed more than just viewers but the cast as well. Alison Sweeney, who has portayed the iconic Sami Brady since 1993, gave the stars in the storyline her approval.

"Wow. @BlakeBerris & @ChandlerMassey ROCKED their scenes with Jensen today!!! #intense," Sweeney tweeted Tuesday.

Blake Berris, the portrayer of Nick, thanked the writers of the show for granting him such material.

"Want to thank the writers of #DAYS for writing me such a brilliant complex character. I am much indebted to you. @nbcdays," he tweeted Wednesday.

Chandler Massey, who plays Will, felt that his frequent on screen collaborator deserved the lion's share of praise. The Emmy nominated Massey, who has become one of the show's leading men, was in awe of Berris' performances.

"Wow. Someone give @BlakeBerris all the Emmys. All of them. I regret hiding behind a shelf, because I didn't get to see his performance live," Massey tweeted Tuesday.

Camila Banus, the center of the three men and a baby escapades, saw her character deliver a daughter in the woods with Sonny at her side. At first the child didn't cry but Sonny helped her to start breathing. The emotional scenes touched a nerve with fans who praised the young actress. She retweeted some of the compliments.

"@camilabanus I am so proud of you! What breathtaking, spectacular scenes the past three #Days and Today! You are a superstar! Much love ! xo," a fan tweeted her on Tuesday.

The emotional scenes will continue as Will is in the hospital and his mother Sami is now on the warpath.

Days airs weekdays on NBC.
