Speculation about them dating led to high ratings on The Voice back on Season 9, and now, it appears the show's producers are ready to hand over even bigger money to Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani if they are willing to keep things going in front of the cameras on season 12.

According to Radar Online, both Stefani and Shelton were paid large bonuses to "keep the sparks alive" on-camera, and that the amounts are substantially higher than ones being paid to fellow coaches Adam Levine and Alicia Keys.

"The producers really want to see Gwen and Blake in competition more often this upcoming season, versus working with each other like that have in the past," a source told the website about the stipulations for the bonuses. "And, of course, there is a stipulation in their contract, which is more of a break-up clause. If, for some reason, they call it quits, they are both required to finish out the remainder of their existing contracts."

The big reason producers have upped the couple's bonuses however is because they are hoping the pair, who have been together for over a year now and seem more in love than ever, will take their relationship to the next step on air, with Shelton possibly proposing to Stefani during one of the live tapings.

"Bosses are really, really pushing for this," the source said. "They want nothing more than for Blake to propose to Gwen during a taping of the show."

If that were to happen, it would likely help increase ratings even more, though it wouldn't be the first time a couple got engaged on air during the show.

Back in 2015, before Shelton and Stefani went public with their romance and were still perceived as single after their divorces from Miranda Lambert and Gavin Rossdale, a couple who auditioned for the show, named Amanda Preslar and Jubal Lee Young, became engaged after they performed for the judges,.

In 2016, contestant Lauren Diaz was proposed to after she left the stage following her own successful audition as well.
