American muscle car lovers will finally be able to get an SRT version of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) upcoming 2018 Dodge Durango SUV. Previously, the top of the line model for the Dodge Durango was the 2017 Dodge Durango R/T with the 5.7-liter V8 Hemi, but now FCA has kicked it up a notch with the 2018 model, which it claims to be the fastest and most powerful three-row American SUV.

The company announced all the details of their upcoming 2018 Dodge Durango SRT ahead of the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, which will be held today, Feb. 9. The new Durango variant will be present during the show to give fans their first live look at the new SUV.

According to Detroit Free Press, Fiat's claim of the Durango SRT being the most powerful three-row SUV is not without merit as the new model does come with a beefier engine. The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT will be equipped with a 6.4-liter V8 that churns out 475 horsepower and 470 pound feet of torque. This will be the same engine as found in the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and several Charger models.

Despite being 5,510 pounds in weight, the engine will reportedly be able to get the Durango to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. Thanks to the engine's large torque figures, the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT will also apparently have the highest towing capacity amongst other three-row SUV's in the country. The new Durango will reportedly be able to tow as much as 8,600 pounds, according to Fiat.

Other features included in the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT will be full Brembo brakes that will be able to stop the massive vehicle at 115 feet from 60 mph. The interior is also equipped with heated and ventilated seats that are covered in leather. No price has yet to be announced for the new model, but Fiat should reveal that particular detail at today's show.
