Of late, much of "Criminal Minds" Season 12 has revolved around Spencer Reid and now it looks like his life would move towards some romance as fans are eager to see him with a love interest. What is more, showrunner Erica Messer has hinted at another return in the police procedural TV series.

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 has a lot going for Spencer Reid right now and thus, fans expect him to venture into the love arena. According to Carter Matt, this is the perfect time for the supervisory special agent to fall in love. Of course, finding an ideal match for him is not easy as she should be someone who challenges him emotionally as well as intellectually.

She could be a law-enforcement officer or even a family member of someone he is trying to get justice for in "Criminal Minds" Season 12. The main concern is that Reid needs someone who could be an emotional rock as he is undergoing difficult times. However, it is not like only he is looking for support, he is sure to reciprocate the gesture.

In the meantime, showrunner Erica Messer has teased another return in "Criminal Minds" Season 12, TVLine reported. She said that after twelve seasons, it feels like they have earned the right to tell some serialized stories. Therefore, they are running with that and telling a big arc that will last all the remaining episodes of "Criminal Minds" Season 12.

She also said that they are acknowledging the history of the series and thus, are able to bring back people who have had an impact on the characters. Talking about Episode 13 of "Criminal Minds" Season 12 titled "Spencer," she stated that it will launch a unique journey for Reid and for the team.
