Warner Bros' "The Batman" movie has been caught in another roller coaster ride. Its potential director, Matt Reeves, has reportedly exited the talks with the company one week after the initial negotiations.

An anonymous studio source has come forward and confirmed that negotiations for "The Batman" directorial position between Warner Bros and Reeves have "broken down," The Hollywood Reporter said. There is still a chance for the talks to resume once both parties' heads are cool, the report continued.

Despite the exit of the director during the talks, Warner Bros is still pushing "The Batman" movie to happen. As what noted, the studio is still intent on making the film and that the company will do whatever it takes.

The news about Reeves' involvement in "The Batman" came after Ben Affleck officially confirms he will not helm the movie, Variety reported. The actor would still continue to play the part of Bruce Wayne by morning and the caped crusader by night.

"Performing this role demands focus, passion, and the very best performance I can give," Affleck said in a statement. "It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require."

The actor noted that he had led to the decision to find a partner that collaborate with him in "The Batman." And continued to reassure everyone that he is still "extremely committed" to the film project.

Reeves is not the only name that has been linked to taking the director's chair in "The Batman." Fede Alvarez, the director of the 2016 horror-thriller movie "Don't Breathe," and "Alien" filmmaker, Ridley Scott, have both been mentioned as potential candidates to helm the standalone film.

Warner Bros has yet to release any official regarding the talks with Reeves or even the status of movie's production. "The Batman" is being expected to hit cinemas sometime in 2018 with filming planned to kick off in spring of this year.
