The "Divergent" actress reflects on her past reaction to the infamous Will Smith Oscar slap, and wishes that she could have "handled that differently".

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Kravitz posted a photo of herself wearing her gown during the awards show with a controversial caption, "here's a picture of my dress at the award show where we are apparently assaulting people on stage now," as an obvious reference to Will Smith's slap towards Chris Rock.

In her recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, The actress addressed the initial comments she made about the Will Smith incident at the Oscars. She went on to say that she feels a mixture of emotions about her posts and expresses regret.

"I'm torn about what to say right now, because I'm supposed to just talk about it; I have very complicated feelings around it," Kravitz said. "I wish I had handled that differently. And that's OK."

"The Batman" star's reflection on the incident came a month after Will Smith expressed his thoughts in a public apology video to Chris Rock, which was posted on Youtube.

Realizations After Getting Cancelled

The 33 year old actress had come under fire by fans after her caption. Twitter netizens had maliciously dug up dirt on the actress, calling her a "sexual predator" towards 'After Earth' co-star Jaden Smith.

Now, Kravitz told The Wall Street Journal about her thoughts as an artist, and stated that she doesn't feel the need to always make comments "that will be universally supported".

"I was reminded that I'm an artist. Being an artist is not about everybody loving you or everyone thinking you're hot. It's about expressing something that will hopefully spark a conversation or inspire people or make them feel seen," she explained. "I think I'm in a place right now where I don't want to express myself through a caption or a tweet. I want to express myself through art."

Zoe Kravitz made her acting debut in 2007 with the romantic comedy "No Reservations", and rose to fame with major roles in "Big Little Lies" and "The Batman". The actress has been dubbed by Time magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential People in 2022.

As of now, she will be starring in and producing the crime drama "The Sundance kid might have some regrets".
