Actor Chris O'Donnell is really looking forward to NCIS: Los Anegles' fifth season, especially an upcoming landmark for the show, because he believes it will provide further insight into his character, Special Agent G. Callen.

"[The show] got picked up for a fifth season, and our 100th episode is coming up," he told CelebrityBabyScoop.com.

"In this episode, viewers will find out information about my character's life and history. I'm also looking forward to directing again."

In the meantime, the actor is getting geared up for Father's Day. And with his large family -- O'Donnell has five children, ranging in age from 6 to 14 -- the holiday is always a big one.

"Father's Day means spending time with my family," he said. "Some of my most memorable gifts from my kids have been homemade cards - my kids putting their feelings into words."

O'Donnell also carves out specific time with each child, and between that and his show, it all keeps him rather busy.

"They're all so unique," he said, "they dabble in all types of sports and extracurricular activities.

"We also try to mix community service into the fun activities we do with them. For example, we help clean up beaches together."

He does, however, make sure to leave a little time for himself.

"I also plan to play golf without a trace of guilt," he said.

O'Donnell says his kids are important to him, not least because they give him a link to what's new and popular these days. It may be difficult, even for a man starring one of television's highest-rated shows.

"My daughter is into One Direction right now, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are also pretty big around here," he said.

As a Chicago native, he is also very into the Blackhawks, who recently clinched a spot in the 2013 Western Conference Finals and are four games away from the Stanley Cup Finals.

Unfortunately, he's not always keen on what's hot: "I don't know if my kids are keeping me trendy and cool, but they do introduce me to a lot of new music... [and it's] not always good."

NCIS:LA Season 5 is returning to CBS in the upcoming fall season.
