Microsoft has so far been keeping quite a tight lid on the details regarding their highly awaited new 2-in-1 hybrid tablet laptop, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. With the device expected to be announced anytime within the year, there is still no official announcements from the company regarding its possible specs, changes, and features.

This has led to many tech publications and fans speculating about the device's development status, leading some to believe that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 may not be coming out at all this year. However, several new references about the device have been spotted, which could be construed as evidence that the device may be in development after all.

A report from Win Central cites two separate instances of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 being "officially" mentioned online. The first mention of the much-awaited hybrid comes from a LinkedIn profile of a Microsoft-contracted product designer.

The designers' page apparently mentions that he is involved in a team focused on the research and development of new speech models with multidisciplinary design approaches. The description for their goal specifically mentions several Microsoft-built devices, including the Xbox console, the augmented reality HoloLens headset, and the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.

The second mention of Microsoft Surface Pro 5, which could be considered as the less reliable of the two, is an image tag found on Microsoft's French website. The page displays a device with the title tag "win10-feature-surface-pro-5-z". The title was of course immediately changes to "win10-feature-surface-pro-4_image_5z," which might suggest that it could have been just a typo.

According to Channel Pro, despite the lack of evidence of the device's existence, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is still expected to be launched possibly in April. The device is expected to sport some very impressive specs, including Intel's latest generation Kaby Lake processor, a new rechargeable Surface Pen, a sleeker design, and an improved battery pack.
