The victims of the April Boston Marathon bombings shared their stories of recovery in this week's issue of People.

Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are accused of setting off a pair of bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on April 15 that resulted in three deaths and more than 260 injuries. Many of the victims lost their limbs.

Tamerlan was killed in a shootout with police days later, while Dzhokhar was injured and later captured.

Adrianne Haslet told the publication that her eyes filled with tears on May 29 - the day she stood on her new prosthetic leg for the first time.

"I started crying," the professional ballroom dancer, 32, said. "I hadn't even taken a step yet. Just to stand tall was extremely emotional."

Earlier in May, it was announced that Haslet would appear on Dancing With The Stars in the upcoming season. At the time, she vowed to run and dance again.

"I will do whatever it takes to get there. When I heard from Dancing With the Stars I was incredibly nervous, excited, happy. I just couldn't believe it."

She was determined to make the best of the unfortunate situation. She did not want to feel sorry for herself.

"I would love to dance on the show. It would be ... such an accomplishment for me personally," she said. "The future is in front of me and I'm not going to let this stop me."

Marc Fucarile, 34, had his right leg blown off. He came in and out of consciousness immediately following the explosions. A police van had to transport him and another victim, Roseann Sdoia, to the hospital as the last available hospital van passed them by.

"I thought I was going to die," he said.

Fucarile said he was encouraged by Sdoia, who lost a leg in the bombings, to continue fighting for his life. Fucarile, the father of a young son, shared with the magazine that he and his fiancée Jennifer were planning their wedding in the aftermath of the terrorist attack.

"I definitely want to be able to dance," Fucarile said.
