Samsung Electronics recently unveiled its flagship handsets; Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. The unlocked versions of these handsets are scheduled to be available for pre-order at Best Buy starting May 9.

According to The Verge, the South Korean tech giant will be releasing the unlocked models of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones as listed in Best Buy. The pre-orders of the newest flagship handsets from Samsung will start on May 9 which indicates an earlier release date.

It can be remembered that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge unlocked models does not hit the market shelves until June. This was three months after the smartphone's first launched at US carriers.

Furthermore, Phandroid has noted that the unlocked versions of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus are essentially tagged at a cheaper price compared with the ones being retailed through carriers. The regular Samsung Galaxy S8 is tagged at $725 while the bigger Samsung galaxy S8 Plus is priced at $825.

Unluckily, the buyers who palace pre-orders of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus won't be able to take benefit of the pre-order promotion which gets them the Samsung Gear VR and motion controller free of charge. This was because; this offer is only valid for purchases that will be made on March 30 up to April 20 this year.

Another setback is that Samsung has done a poor job in delivering operating system updated to unlocked versions of its handsets. In fact, this had happened to Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. It has been known that the unlocked US models of these smartphones have still yet to receive Android 7.0 Nougat, while all the carrier versions already obtained the said software upgrade.

For the Samsung fans who wanted an unlocked version of Samsung galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, Best Buy will start taking pre-orders on May 9. Moreover, there are a few conflicts like the freebies and the software update.
