President Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, has received harsh criticism on social media for a tweet shared by her brand's Twitter on Sunday. The tweet promoted recipes of champaign popsicles for Memorial Day.

For many, this was seen as offensive, as they feel that Memorial Day is not a day of celebration, but rather a day meant for remembering and acknowledging those who died and are still in the military services. Ivanka has not commented on the controversy and the tweet is still up on Twitter.

"Make champagne popsicles this #MemorialDay," the tweet said followed by a link to www.ivankatrump.com. Although the tweet has almost 900 favorites and 1,000 retweets, it has also accumulated nearly 6,000 replies.

The comments range from mild indifference, to full on outrage. Many of her followers responded with tweets of photos of family members who have served or died fighting for the country. The tweet has been the subject of a lot of scrutiny outside of the Twitter community. However, the controversy has made her tweet a trending topic across social media platforms.

Ivanka addressed the issue of her controversial tweet and observed the fallen veterans on her personal account, which she tweeted on Monday, "Today we honor the men and women in our armed forces who have lost their lives to protect our freedom. Thank you for your service #MemorialDay."
