The woman who pelted eggs at Simon Cowell during the Britain's Got Talent on Saturday, June 8, came forward to explain the reasoning behind her behavior.

Natalie Holt appeared on Britain's Got Talent in 2012 as part of a string quartet called Raven. The group was rejected in the preliminary rounds. The 30-year-old viola player, who performed at the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony, claimed she egged Cowell because she was protesting music competition shows.

"I took a stand against people miming on TV and against Simon Cowell and his dreadful influence on the music industry," she said in a statement on Monday.

The egg incident occurred during the performance of one of the show's finalists, singing duo Richard and Adam. Holt said on Sunday that she regretted the incident.

"I want to apologize to Richard and Adam for overshadowing their performance. I've never done anything like this before and in hindsight I have realized it was a silly thing to do," she said.

Cowell did not seem greatly upset by it, choosing to go for laughs rather than anger. Moments after the incident he joked, "I sent a tweet out saying I don't like eggs and I really don't like eggs now." While security escorted Holt off the stage, Cowell was forced to take off his jacket, which was covered in egg.

The other members of Raven clarified on Twitter on Monday that they had no idea Holt was going to perform the stunt.

"Natalie's decision to do what she did on Saturday eve was never discussed with the group or our manager; she acted entirely alone. We'd never condone such a disturbance & think Richard & Adam did a brilliant job of carrying on their performance under the circumstances," the group tweeted.

Shadow theater group Attraction won Britain's Got Talent on June 8, beating Richard and Adam and young comedian Jack Carroll.
