While we know Adam Brody as the beloved Seth Cohen of The O.C., if he had his way, we might have known him from another popular teen show, Dawson’s Creek.

Cohen, who is currently working on a Crackle digital series called StartUp, told ET host Katie Krause he tried out for a number of old school shows before he landed his role as Cohen.

“I can’t remember specifically, but some very early ones – the ‘Power Rangers’ maybe, definitely ‘Dawson’s Creek.’ I read with Scott Speedman and I didn’t get it.”

Even though he definitely could have delivered as Pacey, played by Joshua Jackson, Brody said he didn’t go for that role.

“It was later on,” he added. “That was [one of] my first [auditions] – it felt like, ‘Whoa, this is a real TV show,’ and ‘Blues Clues’! To be the dude [Steve] I would have killed for that role when I was 19, 20. I remember going, ‘This would be an alright life. This dog and me on this children’s show.’”

In the end, Brody starred as Cohen on the hit Fox teenage drama. He recalled the beginning phase of the show in the interview.

“Even filming the pilot, like, we got picked up very early, almost during or a week after,” he revealed. “I don’t really have a fame story, but I do remember that it seemed like we were getting a lot of green lights, even when we were filming the pilot.”

Still, fans probably shouldn’t hold their breath for a reunion of the show. When asked, Brody said, “You know, for the right amount of money … I’ll do ‘Blues Clues.’”

Interestingly enough, Brody also went on to marry Leighton Meester, who starred in another teenage drama, Gossip Girl.
