Harrison Ford has played the action hero in a number of films including the Indiana Jones franchise and the epic Star Wars series. However, the veteran actor turned into a real-life hero over the weekend as he rushed to the aid of a woman after she lost control of her vehicle and crashed her car off the highway.

Harrison Ford A Real-life Hero

Apparently, Ford set an example of a good citizen when he lent a helping hand to a driver whose sedan swerved off of State Route 126 in Santa Paula, California on Sunday, Nov. 19.

"Ford was driving behind her when she lost control and crashed into an embankment off the freeway," an eyewitness told TMZ. "He pulled over and rushed to the woman's aide, as did other bystanders, to get her safely out of the vehicle while paramedics arrived."

The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 63-year-old woman from Santa Clarita, was the only occupant of the vehicle when her car drifted left into the dirt center divider. The accident took place at around noon, local time, and the driver was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Not The First Time

This isn't the first time the Blade Runner 2049 star has had to react quickly in emergency situations. The actor survived a plane crash in 2015 after a single-engine, World War II-era plane he was piloting experienced engine problems. Hence, he was forced to perform an emergency landing on a golf course in Los Angeles. Reports indicated that the actor suffered a broken arm and head injuries from the said crash.

Earlier this year, Ford was involved in another aircraft-related incident when he nearly crashed into a passenger plane carrying more than 100 passengers.

Also, in 2000, he piloted a helicopter and helped two hikers off Table Mountain after one of them suffered from altitude sickness and was unable to get down by herself.

The actor also used his helicopter flying skills to help rescue a 13-year-old boy scout who had gone missing near Yellowstone National Park in 2001. The teen had slept in a cave the night before during a storm after being separated from his troop.

A couple of months ago, Harrison Ford found himself stuck in a major traffic jam in Manhattan, so, he got out of his Mercedes and helped to clear up the mess by directing traffic until things got moving smoothly.
