Jessica digs into her past and learns about the possible existence of other super powered humans in the trailer for Jessica Jones Season 2 that Netflix released on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

The Past Haunts Jessica

The trailer reveals what Jessica (Krysten Ritter) has been up to in her downtime following the events in Season 1, which is what she does best — drinking. The preview opens with a fiery crash — a flashback into the car accident that killed her family — and she tries to drown the memory with whiskey.

However, try as she might, she cannot help but wonder what happened 17 years ago. She wants to know why she came out alive in the car crash that killed her family. It is clear that the events in Season 1 have made Jessica more introspective and broody. They have made her question her past.

"My whole family was killed in a car accident, someone did horrific experiments on me, and now this super vigilante s**t keeps coming at me," she says in the trailer. The purple light at the end of the video teases the return of Season 1 nemesis Killgrave.

This time in Jessica Jones Season 2, the superhero is investigating herself. Encouraged by her bestfriend Patsy, Jessica begins to explore the events that happened 17 years ago.

"Jess, knowing what was done to you might help you," Patsy tells Jessica.

More Superheroes

Jessica's questions lead her to an abandoned facility, where she says she and "something else" were made. She also meets a new character, played by Janet McTeer (Me Before You, The Woman in Black), who knows what was done to her after the car accident.

"You were brought back from the dead. The powers were side-effect," McTeer's still-unnamed character reveals to which Jessica asks if there are many more like her.

Hellcat's Debut

Meanwhile, the trailer also teases the debut of Hellcat in Jessica Jones Season 2. Trish likely becomes the Marvel character after she turns into her friend's sidekick.

Rachael Taylor, who plays Trish, said in a previous interview that it would be a privilege to play Hellcat in the series.

"It would be amazing. I mean, it's already a privilege to play a history that has so much lineage within the Marvel Universe. And to take it that one step further is something that, yeah, I'd love to get my teeth stuck into whatever happens to the character," Taylor told CBR.

Jessica Jones Season 2 premieres on Netflix on March 8.
