Eric Dane Files Response To Rebecca Gayheart's Divorce Petition

Grey's Anatomy actor Eric Dane is finally breaking his silence on his wife Rebecca Gayheart's decision to file for divorce.

It seemed that he is willing to let his wife go, as per the court papers obtained by People. Dane echoed Gayheart's sentiments, including joint custody of the kids and wishing to have their marriage terminated. With this, the actor offered to provide financial support.

Jawbreaker star Gayheart shocked the world when she filed for divorce this February, putting to a halt their 14 years of being husband and wife. They exchanged vows in August 2004.

"We will continue our friendship and work as a team to co-parent our two beautiful girls as they are the most important thing in the world to us," Dane said, whose children with Gayheart are Billie and Georgia.

He requested people to respect their family's privacy as they try to figure things out. Meanwhile, 14 years is no joke and it certainly did not come easy for Dane and Gayheart.

Bittersweet Journey

Just a couple of years of being married, a clip showing Gayheart, Dane, and another woman was released into the public. The actor also made headlines in 2011 after entering rehab for his alleged addiction to pain relievers prescripted for an injury.

"We've all made mistakes. My one regret is that I got the person I love most wrapped up in all that: Rebecca," Dane revealed.

Just last year, Dane had to battle depression, which meant he had to leave his character Tom Chandler in the TNT show The Last Ship.

But it seemed that the couple had lost their spark after Dane responded to Gayheart's petition for divorce. He also cited irreconcilable differences.

Gayheart, for her part, had become elusive with sharing to the world her struggles. She took to Instagram to thank all those that had sent well wishes and expressed support in this trying time. She also posted a quote, saying "Calm is a superpower," and wrote that staying unperturbed amid chaos is not an easy feat but would be worthy.

Mystery Woman

Meanwhile, TMZ noted that Dane was spotted with an unidentified woman early this year. The photo showed the actor in sunglasses, sporting a leather jacket and a white V-neck shirt underneath. He obviously was aware of the paparazzi, judging the way he waved to the photographer. The unnamed blonde woman also wore sunglasses and donned a denim jacket.

Whether this has something to do with Dane and Gayheart's decision to file for divorce is still unclear.
