Katee Sackhoff is heading back to space as the lead star of the new Netflix sci-fi series Another Life from Saving Hope creator Aaron Martin.

Netflix has given a 10-episode order for the series where Sackhoff plays an astronaut named Niko Breckinridge. The space drama focuses on the character's search for alien intelligence. She leads a young crew on a mission to explore the genesis of an alien artifact. The crew faces unimaginable danger during the investigation on what might very well be a one-way mission.

Cast And Crew

Another Life is from Halfire Entertainment, the TV studio behind another Netflix series Alias Grace. Noreen Halpern serves as executive producer. Aside from the award-winning Alias Grace, her other series credits include Haven and Rookie Blue.

Martin acts as the creator and showrunner. He has also worked with Halpern in Alias Grace. His other credits include Slasher and DeGrassi: The Next Generation.

TV And Film Credits

Sackhoff is best known for her role as fan-favorite Lieutenant Kara "Starbuck" Thrace in Sci Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica series. She portrayed the character for four seasons. The show ran from 2004 to 2009. The 38-year-old actress from Portland, Oregon, also had recurring roles in the CW's superhero show The Flash, where she played the role of the villainess Amunet Black.

Appearing in Another Life marks Sackhoff's return to Netflix. The actress portrayed the lead role of Victoria "Vic" Moretti in the Western drama Longmire, which originally aired on A&E. The network canceled the series, and Netflix stepped in. It aired the final three seasons of the six-season series.

Sackhoff's film credits include the 2013 horror film Oculus, where she played a character named Marie Russell, the mother of Kaylie Russell, portrayed by Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy). The American actress also appeared in the 2013 sci-fi thriller Riddick, where she portrayed the role of Dahl opposite The Fast and the Furious star Vin Diesel. It is also where she met her current partner Karl Urban, who starred in the movie as Vaako. Sackhoff also starred in the 2016 horror movie Don't Knock Twice as Jess.

Details about Another Life remain scarce. Netflix has yet to reveal the names of the other cast in the series. Likewise, there is no premiere date announced yet.
