The American Music Awards 2019 was epic, especially after the return performances from Selena Gomez, Shania Twain, Jonas Brothers, Dua Lipa and more.
Ciara was the host for AMA 2019 and she gave a bonus performance by singing "Melanin."
Commotion Over The Opening Performance
Selena Gomez opened AMA 2019 with a back-to-back performance of her Billboard Hot 100 No.1 hit "Lose You to Love Me" and "Look at Her Now."
There has been ruckus on social media criticizing Gomez' off-key performance to her own chorus. Some reports say she had a panic attack before the show, as it was two years since her last televised performance and she put a lot of pressure on herself.
Some of Gomez's fans defended her, saying she may have had a lupus flare-up that caused her voice to get shaky. Other fans claim the audio transmitted on livestream was not how Gomez sounded at all, adding her performance could have been sabotaged.
Critics also pointed out that Gomez was off her mark with her dance performance for "Look at Her Now." Either way, her besties Taylor Swift and Halsey cheered her on from the audience.
Gomez got a standing ovation and the approval of the AMAs, and that is what matters most.
Had she had a panic attack, health scare, sabotage, or bullying, Selena stood there and performed courageously. She then sent love on IG saying, "Feels good to be back. Thank you to my entire team and to my fans that stand by me."
Taylor Swift Flames Controversy
Swift was previously wrapped up in a controversy with Big Machine that even got J-Beebs involved and had death threats thrown in.
But "Fearless" Tay-Tay went on to receive the AMAs "Artist of the Year" AND "Artist of the Decade Award." She belted out her old songs including "Shake It Off" with Camilla Cabello and Halsey.
Swift's outfit at the opening of her performance also got eyes wide-open. That white shirt with her old labels in-print slammed that Big Machine controversy hardcore.
Oh, and Tay just printed out hundreds of those shirts and sold it as merch. She won six awards at AMA 2019 for a total of 29 AMA awards, beating Michael Jackson's record.
Most Unforgettable AMA Performances
Jonas Brothers in the house could not stop those fans from screaming! Nick, Joe and Kevin were not exactly at the AMAs in L.A., hence the presence of the fans.
The famous band sung to their fans instead in a special live performance at Boston. The trio is currently on tour for "Happiness Begins."

Back in L.A., Lizzo stole the AMAs spotlight first with that teeny-tiny white purse that made fashion cops go wild.
And when Tyra Banks introduced her in the most beautiful way, she went ahead and shook the house with a very passionate "Jerome."
The last performance of the night was simply the best way to end AMA 2019. Shania Twain returned blossoming in pink from her gown to her glittery guitar.
Shania belted out her 1997 hits "You're Still The One" and "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" in a sparkly body suit.
Unforgettable Couple Moments
Dua Lipa just made her relationship to Anwar Hadid red carpet official at the AMAs. Yes, Anwar the brother of Gigi and Bella. She packed on PDA that got beauty influencer James Charles riding on, saying he looked like Anwar which fans dissed.
Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello heated up the stage with "Señorita," but no they did not kiss on-stage.
The Best Acceptance Speeches
Fans seriously cannot get over new mom Cardi B giving her acceptance speech for best female hip hop artist award in a bath robe! People had to give leeway to the new mom though, as she made every effort to look glam despite saying she has zero time to even get her brows done.
Halsey delivered a speech that made Swift say was the "speech of the whole night." She talked about how she grew up wanting validation that came through an award, especially after the soul-crushing process of it.
Halsey, who was previously snubbed from Grammys, went on to say the magic of it can fade but real music and real fans keep it alive.
Carrie Underwood also gave an emotional speech when she received "Favorite Country Female Artist" and "Favorite Country Album."
The "Jesus Take The Wheel" singer thanked God for the talents given not just to her but to all to use to "make the world a better place."
Best Newcomer at AMAs
Billie Eilish stepped up to her first-ever performance at the AMA stage with Euphoria-inspired neon green hair in two messy buns.
The 17-year-old wore an oversized shirt that says "No Music on a Dead Planet," as she gave a show-stomping performance of "All The Good Girls Go To Hell."
Eilish was awarded "New Artist of the Year" and "Favorite Artist for Alternative Rock."
