As per usual, the WWE brass was looking to up its entertainment value ante when it sent its elite to perform in its fourth annual Money In The Bank pay-per-view on Sunday night. The respective program began the build to what's arguably considered its second most popular event, Summerslam.

In a highly competitive matchup that featured several big bumps and bruises, it was The Viper Randy Orton who prevailed on the Raw side by obtaining the briefcase.

The match featured the highly publicized return of Rob Van Dam, who entered the squared circle to a standing ovation from the Philadelphia, Pa. crowd.

Daniel Bryan was all the way to the top when Curtis Axel took him off the ladder. However, fellow Paul Heyman guy CM Punk hit Axel with a GTS, which prompted Heyman to come out and screw The Best In The World out of the No. 1 contender's shot by knocking him off the ladder with another ladder.

Once on the ground, Punk's former buddy busted his head open with the ladder. When RVD tried to take advantage of the situation, Orton hit him with an RKO to climb to the top and obtain the briefcase.

After a long battle that was clearly dominated by Mark Henry, John Cena retained his WWE Championship by locking in the STFU on The World's Strongest Man.

Due to interference by AJ Lee, an angered Dolph Ziggler was disqualified and Alberto Del Rio kept his WWE World Heavyweight championship.

After missing the Lionsault, Y2J Chris Jericho was rolled up by the monster Ryback, who got the pin.

In a matchup for the Divas championship, A.J. Lee kept her women's strap by locking in a submission on former friend Kaitlyn.

Earlier in the night, Curtis Axel used a modified neck breaker to retain his Intercontinental title against The Miz.

In the Smackdown MITB Ladder match it was Damien Sandow who obtained the briefcase, as he threw his tag team partner Cody Rhodes off the ladder to seize the opportunity.
