Obsessing over Katy Perry is one thing, but talking to her about parenting is a whole other ballgame.

Singer Thomas Rhett had the unique experience of having such a conversation with Perry. The California Gurls phenom was always one of the country singer's favorite musicians. Therefore, according to an exclusive with People, when Katy Perry said that she would like to collaborate with Rhett for one of the song's on his album, the artist was shocked and amazed. After hearing the song Where We Started, which is the title record of Rhett's new album, the American Idol judge knew she wanted to collab. A stunned Rhett shared:

"I've always been such a huge fan of hers, from the time I was 14. Katy Perry was like, the jam and still is...She heard the song and was like, 'How do I be a part of this?' And I was like, 'I can't believe that you know who I am, first of all. Second of all, are you serious? Because the answer is yes.'"

The two recorded their tracks for the song separately, but they were able to meet once they made the music video. In this meeting, the two got to talking about their young families and parenting. For Rhett, this was a somewhat surreal experience.

"I feel like when you're a parent and you talk to another parent it ends up being the majority of the conversation that you have because that's just what your life is consumed in...So to be able to talk dad-ing and mom-ing with someone like Katy was kind of hilarious, but awesome at the same time."

We can't wait to hear the full album when it comes out on April 1st, 2022.
