It wasn't long after the Will Smith Oscar slap over a joke made about his wife Jada's alopecia that another notably cringe joke comedian decided to add his two cents to the discussion. Ricky Gervais, who is no stranger to roasting The Hollywood elite during his time as the host of The Golden Globes five times over, has been poking fun at the incident the only way he can, by leaning into it.

If you remember Gervais' early work, his time playing David Brent on the original UK version of The Office was awkward comedy at its finest. Using one clip, in particular, to twist the knife a little more, Gervais took to Twitter with a scene of his character talking to his employees about a co-worker whose wife has alopecia.

"Particularly for his wife. And she's got alopecia. So ... not a happy home life."

Gervais also posted a Tweet, that has been since deleted, where he makes up the back and forth between the Academy and Chris Rock:

Chris Rock: "G.I. Jane was a great movie though."

The Academy: "G.I. Jane was not the target of the joke, the target was a woman who is suffering from hair loss."

Chris Rock: "Next time, I won't mention the movie."

The Academy: "No, don't make jokes about people's personal problems."

Ricky Gervais told The View back in January about why he would never host The Oscars

"You know, the great thing about the Globes was they said I could write my own jokes, say what I want, and not rehearse. And that is just too good for a comedian to turn down. I don't think the Oscars ever would allow me that freedom. And rightly so! I think they'd be mad."

Well, at least Gervais knows how to pick his battles.
