In the grand tradition of steamy historical dramas à la Netflix's "Bridgerton," A24 is coming out with its own erotic drama "The Governesses." Centering around three governesses exploring their sexualities out in the idyllic French countryside, the three governesses in question are revealed to be played by "Wolf"'s Lily-Rose Depp, "Squid Game"'s Jung Hoyeon, and "The Worst Person in the World's" Renate Reinsve.

Directed by Joe Talbot, "The Governesses" is the second film he is directing for A24 after his highly-acclaimed debut feature "The Last Black Man in San Francisco." The three actresses he's enlisted for his newest feature have all recently won many accolades, with Depp being a two-time César Award nominee, Jung netting a SAG Award among others for her work in "Squid Game," and Reinsve scoring a Cannes' Best Actress Award and a BAFTA Award nomination for her breakout work in "The Worst Person in the World." The film is being developed with the support of BBC Film.

Additionally, "The Governesses" is based on the erotic novella by the same name by Anne Serre and translated by Mark Hutchison and has been described as a feminist fantasy. Deadline describes the book as following "three rebellious French governesses, or nannies, who decide to express their sexualities and go on a series of erotic adventures. In the process, they manage to 'inspirit the minds of the boys in their care' and reawaken the imaginations of the boys' bohemian parents."

Sounds like a fun romp! Unfortunately other information on the film remains scarce. We look forward to seeing "The Governesses" and these three up-and-coming actresses shine as feminist French governesses.
