Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stunned the world when they revealed their intention to step down as senior royals.

Because his older brother, Prince William, is the successor to the throne, the Duke of Sussex is simply a spare.

A royal observer believes that after his job as someone whose "mission in life" was to "service people," Prince Harry felt he didn't have a purpose while entering the next chapter of their lives.

"The fact that he doesn't have that purpose at the core of his existence, I think would be really tough," Angela Mollard said on the "Royals" podcast.

In addition, the Duke's close friend, Jane Goodall, reveals in 2020 that he finds life difficult.

"I don't know how his career will pan out, but yeah, I've been in touch," she told the Radio Times, "though I think he's finding life a bit tough right now."

Another source told ET that when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the British monarchy, the royals were under pressure due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

"It hasn't been an easy road. We know he's worried about his relatives in the UK, but he wants to do what he thinks is best for his own family."

Prince Harry Goals After Royal Life

Two years later, it appears that Prince Harry has figured out what he wants to do with his life.

During the Invictus Games, the Duke of Sussex told "Kindercorrespondents," or child reporters, that he "won't rest" until he had made the world a better place for his children, Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana.

He declared that he will "never, ever, ever rest," adding, "Because it is our responsibility that the world sit as it is today."

Per the Mirror, the two-parent father went on to remark, "I don't believe we should be bringing children into the world unless we are willing to make the world a better place for them. We can't take your future away from you."

The Duke of Sussex spoke sweetly about his son, Archie, and what he wanted to be during a speech at the Invictus Games, so news of Prince Harry's ambitions comes as a surprise.

Prince Harry remarked after Meghan Markle presented him on stage that becoming a role model requires simply "strength and courage."

When Archie was asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, he reportedly answered he wanted to be a helicopter pilot and, on occasion, an astronaut.

"It's your character that matters most," the king said, "and nothing would make his mum and me prouder than to have him have the character that we see before us today."
