From 'Bridgerton' to 'Barbie:' Is Nicola Coughlan Joining the Cast of Greta Gerwig's Upcoming Film Starring Margot Robbie?

Nicola Coughlan might be in the upcoming Greta Gerwig film Barbie.

Right on the heels of the recent announcement that the Bridgerton star would be one half of the romantic focal point  for the third season of the Regency Era romance, potential casting in other projects keep popping up.

Now,word has begun to spread that the Derry Girls star may be making an appearance in the highly anticipated Margot Robbie-led film Barbie.

According to an exclusive with Variety, speculation that Coughlan could be appearing in the Gerwig film began with theories that she would be joining the cast of the long-running British series, Doctor Who. Ncuti Gatwa posted a picture on his Instagram story with the actor at the BAFTA TV Awards and captioned the photo, "A pair of dolls."

Shortly after, it was announced that Gatwa would be taking on the title role in the series.

Coughlan quickly clarified the confusion with Variety at a Netflix Bridgerton event on May 15th. She said:

"I am not going to be on Doctor Who...We are doing something together, but it's not Doctor Who."

Between the caption of the photo and the upcoming film that we know about, we can call Coughlan's involvement in Barbie a VERY WELL EDUCATED guess.

We will just have to wait and see for sure!
