Greta Gerwig's upcomming film Barbie finally has a release date.

The doll that has had every job under the sun, Barbie, is getting a film adaptation from the incredible Greta Gerwig, and the titular role will be played by the sensational Margot Robbie. The highly anticipated film that we are sure will be excellent (does Greta Gerwig create anything other than excellence?), has been looming somewhere in the ambiguous future for a long time. However, at CinemaCon, the movie finally got its release date.

According to an article on The Hollywood Reporter, the doll-based film is set to come out on July 21, 2023. First look pictures from the vibrantly colored film have also been released.

In the photo, we see a smiling Margot Robbie sitting behind the wheel of the classic pink Barbie car. She is wearing a vibrant blue, polka-dotted headband which screams of the classic 1950s Barbie look. This visually pleasing shot immediately has us captivated by the upcoming work.

The rest of the cast of Barbie is a star-studded phenomenon. Other actors involved include Will Ferrell, Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, and America Ferrera.

Robbie is excited to take on the title role; She shared in an interview with British Vogue that this film is going to powerfully subvert the expectations of those who first hear of it.

"Right, it comes with a lot of baggage!...And a lot of nostalgic connections. But with that come a lot of exciting ways to attack it. People generally hear 'Barbie' and think, 'I know what that movie is going to be,' and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they're like, 'Oh, well, maybe I don't...'"

We can't wait to see this incredible movie when it hits the big screen on July 21, 2023.
