It's been three long years since the crew of The Orville has been on the air, but thankfully fans of the show won't have much longer to wait before this newly revamped series - now called New Horizons - begins streaming on June 2.

The show has even dropped a new trailer just to whet our appetites.

Created by Star Trek buff and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, The Orville is basically a comedic version of the aforementioned Star Trek, though it balances the laughs with intelligent, thought provoking narratives.

The new trailer highlights what looks like a generous budget with slick special effects, showcasing story beats involving what's ahead for the crew.

Concentrating on the characters, the clip does well to remind the viewer who's who and where they fit in the story. Intercut with impressively flashy digital effects, the world outside of the ship feels vast and polished.

The principal cast is back, including the late Norm Macdonald, who has been confirmed to return as the lovable sentient blob Yaphet, in one of his final acting roles.

Feeling reminiscent of everything great about modern sci-fi, The Orville: New Horizons seems to be shooting for the moon in the sheer scope of production.

Earlier this year, a cold open teaser was released, in which a chaotic space battle is seen through the eyes of Marcus Finn (BJ Tanner), one of Dr. Finn's (Penny Johnson Jerald) sons, as he races to find shelter on The Orville. (Intense is not the word!)

The Orville will be streaming on Hulu on June 2. It's gonna be a wild ride.
