The idea of watching a film on your handheld devices has been a bone of contention for creatives and cinephiles since the advent of streaming, and there seems to be no signs of stopping the nasty habit.

But maybe there is hope.

In a new promotional trailer for the Brad Pitt action-comedy Bullet Train, the subject of the true movie-going experience is laid out to hilarious effect in a Collider exclusive.

In a new promotional spot, Lemon (Brian Tyree Henry) and Tangerine (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) settle into their seats on the train. Suddenly, Lemon finds Tangerine about to watch a film on his phone, and reads him the riot act about how doing so ruins the experience of cinematic enjoyment.

Playful and funny, the spot is dead on with its message of respecting the art of film - while pointing out that tickets are on sale now for the IMAX presentation of Bullet Train, arguably the best way to experience this colorfully bombastic thrill ride.

The film stars Brad Pitt as a famously unlucky assassin, named Ladybug, who wants out, only to be tasked with retrieving a briefcase on a high-speed train filled to the brim with a slew of world class killers.

Based on the book by Kōtarō Isaka, this no-holds-barred slugfest is directed by former stuntman turned director David Leitch, who has had a hand in several big-budget projects the likes of John Wick and Deadpool 2. The film also stars Sandra Bullock, Zazie Beetz, Michael Shannon, and The Boys Karen Fukuhara, just to name a few.

The promo harkens back to the special edition release of director David Lynch's Inland Empire, when he lambasts people who think they are getting the full scope of a film after watching it on their phone.

"If you're playing the movie on a telephone, you will never in a trillion years experience the film. You'll think you have experienced it, but you'll be cheated. It's such a sadness, that you think you've seen a film, on your f*cking telephone. Get real."

Bullet Train  speeds into theaters on August 5th.
