The 28-year-old actor was reportedly fed up with the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star attempting to control him.
According to the insider, Pete entered the relationship with the greatest of intentions. He is said to be devastated that the reality star was saddened by his choice to stop their relationship.
He did, however, believe that breaking up was his only option.
"That had gotten to the point where it was all people questioned him about, like his successful 'SNL' comic and actor career had gone out the window and all of a sudden he was Mr. Kim Kardashian," they claimed.
The mom-of-four's controlling personality, according to the source, was a big factor in Pete Davidson's decision to call it quits, as the SKIMS entrepreneur regularly micromanaged him, instructing him what to wear and even insisting he only wear clothing companies linked with her family partnerships.
Aside from that, Pete's brain was spinning with meetings and daily call sheets.

Furthermore, the Staten Island native had to follow up with Kim Kardashian's weight loss regimen, which included getting in shape, staying away from junk food, and looking the part for the young star.
When the time came for Pete to travel to Australia for filming "Wizards", the source said he was relieved to be away from Kim Kardashian's diet and fitness fixation, but he still had to deal with her being on his case about what he'd been up to.
However, now that Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson have split, many fans anticipate she will reconcile with ex-husband Kanye West following their divorce in February 2021.
After Kim tweeted a photo of herself wearing boots with Snoop Dogg's face on them, fans of the former couple saw a hint that proves they have rekindled their romance.
