The real and infamous Anna Sorokin breaks her silence on her ex-best friend Rachel William's defamation suit against the Netflix series "Inventing Anna".

"Inventing Anna" is a mini-series inspired by the real-life story of Anna Sorokin, also known as Anna Delvey. The show showcases the con artist's wit in scamming New York socialites to raise funds for her personal foundation.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Rachel Williams, who was played by actress Katie Lowes, recently filed a suit against Netflix for defaming her image in the way they portrayed her character. Williams claims that the mini series shows many false and inaccurate depictions of her.

"This action will show that Netflix made a deliberate decision for dramatic purposes to show Williams doing or saying things in the Series which portray her as a greedy, snobbish, disloyal, dishonest, cowardly, manipulative and opportunistic person," The lawsuit stated.

The lawsuit adds that Netflix did not give Rachel Williams the courtesy of using a different name from her real one in the series, which adds to a stronger case in their defamation suit.

Anna Sorokin Fires Back at Rachel Williams

In "Inventing Anna", Rachel was Anna's close friend who enjoyed the lavish lifestyle the con artist lived but sold her friend out to authorities after a turn of events.

When asked about her thoughts on Williams' allegations, the infamous con artist told The Daily Beast: "Truth hurts".

Later on, The Daily Beast reports that Sorokin would "gladly" testify against Williams in her defamation suit on the mini series if given the opportunity. As of now, Sorokin is in federal custody while waiting to be deported to Germany.

"Inventing Anna" Creative Freedom

According to "Inventing Anna" creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the character of Rachel was "intentionally misrepresented" for the sake of better story-telling. She later on clarifies that the series would not be 100 percent accurate.

"The Rachel character is a people pleaser. She's young, naïve, and had a privileged life. I don't think this is necessarily true of Rachel Williams in real life" Rhimes explained. "I think this is true of the character Shonda wrote and what Shonda needed the character to be for the show."

Despite Rhimes being the showrunner of "Inventing Anna", she was not named in the complaint from Williams.
