"The Family Man" star becomes a father again. Nicholas Cage gets emotional as he welcomes his first child with his wife Riko Shibata. However, the star decides to change his daughter's name at the last minute.

Nicolas Kim Coppola, best known by his stage name "Nicolas Cage", confirms the birth of their first child together, a representative told People. The "Con-air" actor first announced Shibata's pregnancy in January, whom he married in February 2021.

In an interview on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" back in April, the veteran actor gushed about his baby girl on the way and revealed his plan to name her after "The Beatles" singer-songwriter John Lennon and his late father, August Coppola. Thus, Cage came up with the name "Lennon Auggie" after his two inspirations.

"I'll call her Lenny for short," the "Knowing" actor told Kelly Clarkson. "I'm thrilled. It's going to be the biggest adventure of my life."

However, following the birth of their baby girl, the couple chose to settle for "August Francesca Coppola". It is currently unknown why they decided to change their planned name at the last minute.

Cage's Fatherhood Journey

For Cage, this would be his third child, following his last two sons from ex-girlfriends Christina Fulton and Alice Kim.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight back in April, the 58 year old star expressed how much he missed being a father and detailed what he looks forward to most in his upcoming journey.

"I miss it all. I miss watching a child discover things for the first time," Cage expressed excitedly. "The way the sunlight shines through a leaf. Taking them to have a lobster dinner and have them freak out at the table. I miss going to the toy store. I miss singing lullabies. I miss rocking in rocking chairs."

The "National Treasure" star's sons from his previous relationships have already grown up-Kal-El, 16 years old, and Weston, 31 years old.

Nicholas Cage and Riko Shibata Relationship

In an interview with Los Angeles Times in January, Cage expressed that he was "happily married" to his fifth wife, Riko Shibata, whom he met in Japan through mutual friends. During this time, Cage was filming "Prisoners of the Ghostland" in Japan when the two fell in love.

Cage reportedly proposed to Shibata via Facetime and shipped her engagement ring through FedEx. They, later on, got married at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas in February 2021.
