Actor Ryan Grantham, who appeared in "Riverdale" and "Diary of a Wimpy Kid," made noises recently for the wrong reason.

After his infamous statement that he was plotting to kill Justin Trudeau, Grantham's name went viral again as the court sentenced him to life in prison after shooting his mother.

Canada's CBC first confirmed the sentence, saying that the 24-year-old actor heard the life imprisonment penalty in the British Columbia Supreme Court in Vancouver. The Wednesday hearing also revealed that he would not be eligible for parole for 14 years.

Justice Kathleen Ker, as quoted by NY Daily News, read the heartbreaking statements from Grantham's loved ones following the tragedy. His sister said that Grantham knew what he did, serving it as a "saving grace.

He was only 21 when he shot his mother in the head while the matriarch played a piano.

As for the reason why he shot and killed his mother, Ker revealed that the actor underwent difficulties and struggled for weeks before murdering his own mother. The judge also noted that he watched violent footage on the dark web before the crime happened.

The local news outlet added that Grantham is receiving psychiatric treatment in jail. He reportedly shows positive improvement since the treatment began.

Although receiving life imprisonment shocked everyone, his lawyer, Chris Johnson, said that the actor seemingly knew what was coming.

"I think he anticipated what the judge gave him as a sentence. I think he's pretty apprehensive about the whole thing. He's a fairly tiny person, and to go to the prison system, I'm sure it's a daunting and scary thought for him," Johnson told CTV.

Following the revelations, the public shared their opinions online, saying that mental health issues offer worsening effects nowadays.

Ryan Grantham Also Planned To Kill Justin Trudeau

Aside from the 2020 murder case, it was also revealed that Grantham planned to kill Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and that he prepared three guns, 12 Molotov cocktails, camping supplies, ammunition, and a Rideau Cottage map.

He reportedly had the latter to know where Trudeau lived with his family.

Grantham did not make it to his residence though. Instead, he drove himself to Vancouver police headquarters and turned himself in.

The former child star, in addition, had been "experiencing urges to commit violence and kill himself."
