Queen Elizabeth II made a final wish before she took her last breath this month.

The world seemingly stopped for a while when Buckingham Palace announced Her Majesty's death at the age of 96. Everyone paid tribute and respect to her when she had her state funeral on Monday.

Although the royal family had Operation London Bridge, which was a complete plan once the monarch died, Queen Elizabeth II only had one wish before her passing.

Historian Robert Hardman, who penned the book "Queen of Our Times: The Life of Elizabeth II," exclusively told PEOPLE that Her Majesty did not want anything but to be with her family once again. She reportedly also wanted to make her father, King George VI, proud.

"She had no wish to see a statue of herself or even to have a separate burial chamber within St. George's Chapel. As her cousin Margaret Rhodes once said to me, 'She wanted to make her father proud,'" the author went on.

Queen Elizabeth II officially became the Queen during her 1953 coronation. The events were unexpected, though, as they all needed to move forward following King George VI's sudden death.

Meanwhile, Penny Junor believed that Her Majesty served right throughout her life and that she still served even in death.

Queen Elizabeth II's coffin is now being held at King George VI's memorial chapel. Prince Philip's remains have been transferred to the place after staying at the Royal Vault for months since his death.

With that, the chapel now holds the bodies of her family - King George VI, Queen Mother, and Princess Margaret.

Queen Elizabeth II's Final Hours

Before the Queen died on September 8 at the age of 96, she faced several health scares and issues in the months leading to her death.

Her doctors, in fact, became concerned about her status a day before her passing. At that time, Buckingham Palace revealed that the Queen had a further evaluation, and the results made her doctors feel concerned about her health.

Although she was "comfortable" at that time, they recommended medical supervision to ensure her health.

At 1:48 p.m. local time, BBC stopped its regular programming. According to The Washington Post, the channel showed the words "HM Queen Elizabeth's health," prompting everyone to change into black ties.

Unfortunately, hours later, Queen Elizabeth II left everyone for good.
