Actor Christian Bale reveals that he asked for space while co-starring with comedian Chris Rock in their upcoming film, "Amsterdam".

Veteran actor Christian Bale's career dates back to 1986 and rose to prominence for his role as Batman in Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins" film in 2005. The "Terminator Salvation" star has received numerous accolades after more than three decades of acting.

His latest project is a period mystery comedy film written, directed, and produced by David O. Russell titled "Amsterdam". The 48-year-old actor is set to star alongside Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Chris Rock, Taylor Swift, and more A-list stars.

In a recent interview with Indie Wire, the "American Hustle" star revealed that he immediately hit it off with comedian Chris Rock after their first meeting, although, perhaps a little too much. Bale revealed that the comedian had a knack for making him laugh so much that he couldn't focus on acting.

"Chris is so bloody funny and I found that I couldn't act," Bale revealed to Indie Wire. "Because I was just becoming Christian laughing at Chris Rock."

Christian Bale Asked For Space

Bale, who is set to portray Burt Berendsen in the film, found himself struggling to keep character as Chris Rock had him giggling on set. The 48-year-old actor finally approached the comedian to set some boundaries.

"I had to go to him. I went, 'Mate, I love talking to you, and we have mutual friends, but I can't do it anymore,'" he shared. "Because David didn't ask me to make this film so he could just watch me giggle. He wants me to be Burt, and I'm forgetting how to be Burt.'"

A Normal Part of Bale's Acting Process

Veteran actor Bale, however, clarified that he did not blame Chris Rock in any way and stated that "isolation" was a necessary part of his acting routine to keep the character.

"I often meet these incredible people, but I isolate myself," Bale says. "Because if I get to know people too much, I find I just don't believe what I'm doing in the scene."

Director David O. Russell's "Amsterdam" recently had its world premiere at the Alice Tully Hall in New York City on September 18, 2022. The film is set for a nationwide release on October 7, 2022.
